Optical Network Unit (ONU) is a user-side device in PON network, which provides users with access services for data and other services.The main function of the ONU device is to receive optical signals in the downstream direction and convert them into Ethernet messages to be transmitted to the users, and to convert Ethernet messages received from the user's equipment or network into optical signals in the upstream direction and transmit them to the upper-layer network through the PON network.
